As our very first post, we'd like to take you back to where it all began.

Where It Started

Every company has a beginning.

For Xlarge Live, it started in 2012 with a passion for music, culture, and live experiences.

During that period, Hong Kong's freestyle rap scene was growing rapidly, yet there were very few opportunities for local MCs and artists to perform live in front of an audience. Most aspiring talents relied primarily on online platforms such as YouTube and Facebook to showcase their creativity.

Recognising this gap, we set out with a simple vision:

To create a platform where artists could connect with audiences through authentic live performances.

CANTO MIC 2012: The First Chapter

That vision led to the launch of our first event:

CANTO MIC 2012

A Cantonese freestyle rap battle that brought together emerging artists, music enthusiasts, and members of Hong Kong's underground hip hop community.

To organise the event professionally, we established a formal identity under the name:

XLARGE LIVE MUSIC AND EVENT MANAGEMENT

What began as a single music event would eventually become the foundation of everything we do today.

Looking back, it is inspiring to see that many of the artists and MCs who participated during that era continue to shape and influence Hong Kong's music scene today.
